About the company
BayBio is the voice of the world’s oldest, largest and most productive life sciences cluster. It serves Northern California’s 1,300+ life sciences companies. Our members include organizations engaged in or supportive of research, development, and commercialization of medical and biotechnologies, diagnostics, and research tools for human, agricultural and industrial applications.

The company’s line of business as it was 10 years ago. Changes in life science/drug research that influenced business.
Ten years ago, BayBio was a job board that supported the activities of entrepreneurs involved in the life sciences industry. As the industry’s founding companies matured, a desire to advocate on behalf of the life sciences industry was born. Today, BayBio advocates for a business environment that supports California’s massive development pipeline.

Scientific challenges in the next 10 years.
California’s life sciences companies are anticipated to invest $50 billion over the next 10 years to develop 230 treatments and products currently in phase III. This unprecedented investment will go towards the workforce, facilities and equipment. Yet, the State of California has not formal policy in place to capture this massive potential. The state’s elected officials need to support sound policies in health care, education, tax reform and infrastructure.

Bold Prediction: Where will drug research technology be in 10 years?
California’s life sciences industry will continue to lead the world in innovation. The state government, in a close partnership with private industry, will make significant investments to keep the development pipeline flowing. The industry, already a leader in R&D, will be able to manufacture its treatments in California because of significant investments in manufacturing training and workforce development.
